Method
Sterilise your glass bottles and lids. To learn how to do this check out our handy blog!
Put the oil and chillies in your pan and gently heat until you see bubbles. Be careful not to boil your oil.
Take off the heat and allow to cool completely.
Strain your oil and chillies using your strainer and funnel in to your freshly sterisiled bottles.
Store out of direct sunlight in a cool dry place and use with 3 months.
How To Store Infused Chilli Oil
All types of oil will go bad eventually. But flavoured and cold pressed oils can go off quicker. So it's best to store your bottles of oil out of the sunlight and away from heat sources. In a cupboard is best! The oil should last roughly 3 months but make sure you check the oil before using it as an ingredient. You don't want to ruin your lovely salad or pizza with rancid oil!
What Else Can I Put in Chilli Oil?
As mentioned earlier in the blog, the possibilities are endless. Let your imagination run wild and experiment with different flavour combos. A good place to start is using things like garlic or peppercorns to add more flavours. You can also experiment with different chillies. Or even herbs such as basil, rosemary or thyme.
Get creative and you may come up with something amazing! You never know. But whatever you do make sure you have fun doing it.
